1971 was the starting date for the successful history of the business, which was practically set up in a garage by the two entrepreneurs Ulrich Upmeyer and Hans Kraak. This has now been characterised by continuous and long-term growth for over 35 years. In the meantime the family firm managed by its owners has a workforce of over 300 staff around the globe. Westfalia WFT-Fördertechnik GmbH & Co. KG is founded by Ulrich Upmeyer in Borgholzhausen. The company's first building is based in a former dairy in the town centre.
After five successful years operating in handling technology, Westfalia decides to specialise in warehousing systems for pallets.
Westfalia builds the first automatic flow-through storage system for the brewery Herforder Brauerei.
