"Freshness" as the No. 1 quality feature

In the meat and processed meat industry there is no let-up in the increasing requirements on the features of meat quality including process quality and product safety. The hygiene provisions specifying that chilled meat must also have the same quality as fresh meat after time-critical transport, are of overriding importance. A challenge, especially for logistics – innovative automation solutions from Westfalia are:

  • cost-efficient, due to high transparency and acceleration of order processes
  • flexible, as units are designed according to branch-specific conditions
  • improved quality, due to compliance of logistical system requirements with statutory provisions

Practical example: Bedford Fleischwaren GmbH & Co. KG - Osnabrück

Bedford Fleischwaren GmbH & Co. KG produces high-quality meat and meat products at its Osnabrück site. As the old order-picking system no longer satisfied the requirements and storage capacity had become insufficient, Westfalia was asked to provide a new logistics solution more...

Special hygiene concept sets standards

This was the birth of the so-called "Westfalia MiniLoad Compact System" at Bedford. The automated warehouse for small parts is efficient in both logistical and economical terms as well as being ideal for a large number of identical articles. It optimises the entire goods flow, guarantees supply availability on the dot and ensures the transparency of all processes. With the MiniLoad Compact System for 20,000 container storage positions, it was possible to make optimum usage of the existing premises at Bedford with a maximum warehouse density.
