EU directives result in cost increase

Changes in general conditions result in significantly changed costs, so having a dramatic effect on logistics services. In particular, new tolls and EU regulations incur high costs, as does the introduction of working and rest periods.

A challenge, especially for logistics – innovative automation solutions from Westfalia are:

  • high, cost-efficient turnover speed and automated transport technology
  • flexible, as automatic operation in several shifts is possible
  • improved quality, due to careful goods handling

Practical example: Dold Speditions- und Transport GmbH – Buchenbach

As an innovative forwarding company, Dold Speditions- und Transport GmbH has already carved out a name for itself by using tax-exempt biodiesel. The company pulled off a logistical innovation at its Alzey site when it introduced fully automated goods transport from HGVs to the warehouse and back.

Dold relies on the latest conveying and storage technology

Westfalia achieved this objective by providing a Satellite® density storage system, with a high turnover speed acting as the decisive criterion for performance. The conventional HGV is set to give way to the 2-axle SpeedLoader also included in the scope of delivery as it offers twice the pallet loading volume and is also equipped with an integrated conveyor belt. The SpeedLoader  is used for shuttle traffic from the customer's production facility to Spedition Dold's warehouse. From here the pallets are transported to their storage location via two conveyor belt systems. A marked reduction in costs combined with improved safety and quality are just two of the factors achieved by the forwarding company with its investment more...
