Westfalia offers you automated storage systems for different products, load carriers and temperature zones for use in self-contained buildings within high-bay warehouses or as a rack supported building. We mainly specialise in single and double-deep storage systems as well as high-density storage for palletised goods.

Single-deep storage

Function:
This type of storage facilitates direct access to each unit load. This conventional warehouse layout includes one or more aisles equipped with a storage and retrieval machine (SRM). Stock is stored and retrieved using a load handling device, e.g. a telescopic fork.

Use:
Suitable for companies with a wide variety of items. The ratio of the storage capacity to the number of items, as indicated in a key figure, is accordingly low.

Function:
The warehouse configuration is similar to that of single-deep warehouses, but the compartment for one unit load is directly behind a second one. This warehouse topology allows only every other access to the respective unit loads if there are different items in each storage compartment.

Use:
Such configurations pose restrictions in terms of the level of item variety. Besides storage capacity, the throughput achieved by the SRMs also plays a key role.

Function:
In this case unit loads are stored multiple units deep. A shuttle, which serves as a load handling device, can be used for storage. The particular benefit of this type of storage system is that just one SRM is needed in a best-case scenario to serve both the left and right storage blocks and therefore the entire warehouse.

Use:
This type of warehouse offers optimal space utilisation. The variety of items can be low to medium. The respective system solution determines whether additional SRMs are used.
