You need to deliver perishable foods fresh and on time. You want to respond to consumer demands for variety and transparency - in the most time- and cost-efficient way possible, without increasing the workload on your staff. Works with Westfalia.

In close cooperation with our customers in the food industry, we have been developing, building, maintaining, and modernizing outstanding automated high-bay warehouses and conveyor systems since 1971. Even in times of high throughput and low staffing levels, you can rely on our state-of-the-art chilled storage systems, deep-freeze storage systems down to -35°C, ambient storage systems, and logistics systems.

Wherever your expertise lies: Dairy, bakery, or deli. Whether you produce convenience products, fruit, and vegetables. Or if you're into meat and fish, our systems help stabilize prices. And ensure on-time delivery of high-quality food.

Less pallet wear and goods rejects due to material-friendly handling

Fast throughput of raw materials and products

Warehouse logistics for food production

As a general contractor, we consult, design and build turnkey storage and logistics systems as stand-alone logistics facilities or integrated into existing properties. We modernize and maintain existing in-house and third-party systems. At our headquarters in Borgholzhausen, Germany, we design and manufacture key components of our storage and conveyor systems, including control systems, and implement them with our own software and the necessary IT infrastructure.

The best solutions for food manufacturers

Your challenge: New products drive sales. But more frequent changeovers and smaller batch sizes are expensive and must be integrated organically into warehouse operations. This can increase forklift traffic and the risk of accidents. Capacity for raw materials or precursors may also limit batch size.

Our solution: An automated buffer from Westfalia creates maximum capacity in a highly customized footprint. It can be positioned very close to multiple production lines and seamlessly linked. Material and travel distances are reduced, as are energy costs and forklift traffic. Production can be planned flexibly and with a time lag, regardless of order volume. And it can be increased without adding personnel. Set-up times are reduced.

Your challenge: Is your entire assortment readily available for the next round of trucks? The more extensive the range demanded by the market, the higher the throughput in the warehouse and the greater the need for rapid distribution. Storage height and access depth are limited with industrial trucks and forklifts. This increases storage space and costs for additional retail space and cooling.

Our solution: Storage heights of over 40 meters, high storage density and capacity create room for high loads, different formats, load carriers or palletless load units. You save space and energy per load unit. This is made possible by the comparatively few vehicles on standby, modern drives, energy storage and feedback systems, as well as a reduced external surface area and minimized space to be cooled. Storage locations and temperature zones can be economically bundled, and truck miles saved.

Your challenge: Full pallets are the backbone of a well-stocked grocery store. But B2B customers and consumers want choice. The result: parallel, variable batches and a diverse range of products. Because B2B relies on simplicity and centralized suppliers, a wide variety of items and ready-to-sale mixed pallets are in demand. This puts smooth picking at the heart of warehouse logistics.

Our solution: Dynamic, semi-automated picking using Pick-by-Scan, Pick-by-Voice or Pick-by-Light takes the pressure off your team. "Man-to-goods picking is automatically supplied with pallets and goods. The software reserves full product pallets with bestsellers directly for shipping and sends available full product pallets and empty pallets to picking. Software-driven controls prevent picking, storage, and distribution errors.
