Kloosterboer’s general contractor Westfalia is currently implementing a new, fully automated frozen goods warehouse with more than 35,000 pallet rack positions in Lelystad in the Netherlands. Kloosterboer is an international logistics service provider, one of whose clients is McCain – the world’s largest producer of French fries. With this in mind, the new warehouse has been designed as an expansion of Kloosterboer’s service portfolio.

Since early 2019, a total of six identical storage and retrieval machines convey the frozen goods through the warehouse. 180 pallets per hour can be put into storage, while up to 260 pallets can be retrieved. Since then, goods have been handled using 270 conveyor assemblies with over 300 drives – all manufactured in Borgholzhausen, where Westfalia has its headquarters.

Behind it all is a reference which is particularly impressive on the side of the warehouse management software. The smooth running of processes from the very start is ensured by a customised solution with about 90 programmable special functions of the Savanna.NET® software and almost 290 real Demo3D test cases.

The spectacular installation of the storage and retrieval machines by means of an 800-ton crane was recorded for you in a video.
