Borgholzhausen, March 1, 2024 – Westfalia Technologies GmbH & Co. KG, one of the leading suppliers of automated storage systems, has reached another milestone in its corporate development. Following the relocation of production and administration to the new site at Am Teuto 1 in the Borgholzhausen-Versmold intermunicipal industrial estate in May last year, a small ceremony was held on 1 March 2024, to which neighboring companies, local politicians and all those involved in the construction phase were invited. Managing directors Siegbert Wortmann and Andreas Gartemann were delighted that company founder Ulrich Upmeyer, who laid the foundation stone for the East Westphalian specialist supplier in 1971, was able to attend the ceremony.

Relaxed atmosphere

In a relaxed atmosphere, the guests were given an exclusive tour of the modern administration areas and the generously designed production hall. With a total area of 10,000 square meters under roof and a floor space of 15,000 square meters, the new building sets standards in terms of efficiency and functionality. Of this, 10,500 square meters are dedicated to production and storage, and 4,500 square meters to administration.

The architectural design of the building is particularly impressive. 6,000 square meters of façade, 2,300 square meters of window area and over 1,000 square meters of light bands on the roofs of the halls not only create a light-flooded working environment, but also show that the building is part of the Terra Wortmann Group. On Saturday, the more than 30 companies belonging to the group met for a "family reunion", also in Borgholzhausen.

Westfalia has placed a strong emphasis on sustainability in the planning and implementation of the new site. The building is heated by a heat pump, supported at peak times by gas condensing boiler technology. In addition, electricity is generated by an almost 750 kilowatt peak (kWp) photovoltaic system. A green roof and rainwater harvesting underline the company's commitment to environmental sustainability.

Outside, a beautiful green area is being created, which will not only enhance the appearance of the site, but will also serve as an oasis of calm for employees during their breaks.

The inauguration of the new production and administration building marks an important step in Westfalia's development. With state-of-the-art technology and a clear commitment to sustainability, the company is continuing its success story and remaining true to its vision of future-oriented production.
