Gochsheim/Borgholzhausen, December 11, 2025 – Quality from the field to the end product, automation for warehouse logistics: Mainfrucht GmbH & Co. KG in Gochsheim, Lower Franconia, is part of the globally active family business Grünewald International. At its site, it produces and processes local pome fruits, stone fruits, berries, vegetables, and exotic tropical fruits all year round into high-quality fruit juice concentrates, fruit purées, fruit preparations, and a wide range of vegetable products, which are used and further processed by the food industry in various areas. These products are stored in industrial packaging such as bags-in-boxes, canisters, barrels, and Arca boxes. From 2026, a Satellite® Storage System from Westfalia Technologies GmbH & Co. KG will automate the company’s intralogistics.
In addition to a two-aisle warehouse with two storage and retrieval machines (SRMs) for 16,000 storage locations, the warehouse system includes automated dispatch for route sequencing, extensive conveyor technology, and labeling and picking specially designed for bag-in-box packaging. In 2024, the order for warehouse automation in the real estate portfolio was awarded to intralogistics specialist Westfalia. After two years of project planning and implementation, the system is scheduled to go into operation in early 2026.
The Grünewald family business has been in existence since 1938. Ernst Grünewald founded Grünewald OHG in Stainz in the mild climate of Styria in Austria. In doing so, he laid the foundation for the globally active and renowned Grünewald International group of companies. The modern family business is now in its third generation of management by the Grünewald family. Today, the Grünewald Group comprises seven companies: Grünewald Fruchtsaft (Austria), Mainfrucht, Mainfranken Kühlhaus, Ernteband Fruchtsaft, Pomerania Frucht (Poland), Agrotex (Poland), and Podgorina Frucht (Serbia). The group operates as a strong alliance with a family tradition and is one of Europe's largest fruit and vegetable processors.
Since 1956, fruit and vegetable products have been processed year-round at the Gochsheim site using state-of-the-art equipment. Intralogistics partner Westfalia is now rolling out this process to warehouse logistics as well.
